Elizabeth Lentzner Horn was born on July 16th, 1946 in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of George and Catherine Lentzner. She grew up near the small Wisconsin village of East Troy. She attended grade school and high school in East Troy. She was active in the area
4-H programs and in art. After she graduated from high school, Liz attended the University of Wisconsin where she majored in art and library science. At the university, she met Michael Horn. After she graduated in 1969, Liz and Mike were married, and they moved to Florida. Liz was employed at Fort Lauderdale High School as a media specialist. They moved back to Wisconsin where Liz was a media specialist at Cudahy Junior High School. While at CJH, Liz completed a Degree at Cardinal Stritch College as a reading specialist. In 1977, Liz moved to Boise, Idaho. She was employed by the Boise School District as a reading specialist, English teacher, and media specialist. Liz completed a PhD program in education at California Coastal University. She was the author of two books on teaching techniques with several other teachers. When she retired in 2006, she was the media specialist at Boise High. After she retired, Liz studied yoga and watercolor painting.
Yellowstone National Park was a special place to Liz. She loved to go there. Camping, painting, and wildlife observations where her favorite activities at YNP. She visited YNP many times over the years. Liz also enjoyed traveling. She was able to visit all seven of the continents after she retired. Covid-19 and her leukemia diagnosis ended her travels. She spent the past two yeas fighting leukemia. She lost that battle on June 7th, 2022 when she passed. Liz is survived by Michael, her husband of 52 years; Jay and Caleb Lentzner, her brothers; Michelle Lentzner, her niece; and Naomi Lentzner, her grand-niece. She will be missed by her many friends and acquaintances.
