Elaine "Rusty" Louise Anderson

Elaine (Rusty) Louise (nee McClaren) Anderson was born December 24, 1931 on the island of Kauai, Hawaii and died on August 21, 2025. She and her brother not only witnessed the attack on Pearl Harbor but were shot at in the cane field near the school where their parents worked. 

Because her mother was sick, her family evacuated by secret convoy to the mainland where her mother died. Rusty suffered numerous traumatic events but was proud to call herself a survivor. She is best remembered for her sharp wit, sense of humor, and sarcasm.

Predeceased by her husband, Chuck Anderson, she leaves behind her children: Sharyl, Mark, Lisa (who was her primary caretaker over the last years,) and Kelly, grandchildren Sage, Paula, Waymond, Tanna, Colby, and Tucker, as well as 5 great grands. 

There will be no service at Rusty’s request. Rusty will be laid to rest with her husband Charles at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
