Our beloved father, Edward Thomas Kurdy, passed away in his home in Boise, Idaho surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 8 at the age of 76.
Born on March 14 in Cottonwood, Idaho to Anthony Kurdy and Wilma (Woods) Kurdy Uhlenkott, Ed grew up in neighboring Grangeville where he learned the values of hard work, faith and community. After graduating from Grangeville High School he attended the University of Idaho and worked for the Forest
Service. He joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served for more than 20 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant in 1990. His military career took him overseas to South Korea where he met the love of his life, yet his heart always remained in Idaho. He went on to a 20 year career with the National Weather Service and made his way back to Idaho in 2016.
Ed was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor. He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 51 years, MiDa Kurdy; his children Anthony Kurdy, Thomas Kurdy and Katrina Fernandez; and his siblings Jim Kurdy, Don Kurdy, Mary Crum and Andy Kurdy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Kurdy and Wilma (Woods) Kurdy Uhlenkott; his stepfather Robert Uhlenkott; his older brother Joe Kurdy and his sister Margaret Llyellyn. His grandchildren Hudson and Harper Fernandez and Sebastian Kurdy lovingly called him Pop Pop, a name that perfectly captured hiswarmth and gentle spirit.
A man of deep faith and strong character, Ed was a member of Risen Christ Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed volunteering with the church and with the Civil Air Patrol. He loved the outdoors and spent countless days fishing and hunting with family and friends. His friendliness, humor and steady presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. The outpouring of love thefamily has already received has been deeply touching.
Ed’s life reflected his values: faith, family and service to others. He will be remembered as a man who led quietly, loved unconditionally and shared his heart with all who were fortunate to know him. He will be greatly missed.
A funeral will be held at Risen Christ Catholic Parish on Lake Hazel Road on November 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception to celebrate his life. A Rite of Committal and burial service will be held in
