Edna Mae Pukash was born on May 14, 1939 (Mother’s Day) and was raised in Northern Colorado, she was the daughter of farmers Victor and Pauline Kindsfater. She spent the first 18 years of her life on a farm and attended school in several Northern Colorado School Districts. She graduated in 1957 and went to work as an executive secretary in a large insurance firm.
On September 21,1958, she married Alfred Tillman “Lefty” Dietz and her first daughter Valerie Kay was born in 1959. She returned to her secretarial job until her second daughter Vonda Kelene was born in 1961. Edna and Lefty divorced September 12, 1964. She married Donald Ross Brockway on December 3, 1964 and he passed away on February 2, 1965 leaving her a widow and pregnant with her 3rd daughter Virna Kim born in1965 (adopted by Robert Pukash in 1969). On June 17, 1966, she married the love of her life Robert “Bob” Lee Pukash, he had a 12 year old son Michael Lee Pukash and a 10 year old daughter Donna Rae Pukash. Together they had a son Victor “Kory” Pukash in 1967 and a daughter Varlyn “Lynn” Koreen Pukash in 1970, forming a “yours-mine-ours” family of 7 children.
They spent the next 38 years happily married and with all of these children to raise, they opted for a business they could operate from home. They opened Rob-Ed’s Pet Center in 1969 and it was a very successful business for 10 years.
On a trip to Idaho to take their daughter to Northwest Nazarene College, they fell in love with Idaho. They returned to Colorado, sold Rob-Ed’s and moved to Boise. There, they bought Frenchie’s Coiffure in Hyde Park in 1979.
In January 2001, after a long successful run, they sold Frenchie’s as Bob’s health was failing. In June 2001, they sold their home and moved in with their second daughter for a year and then started traveling to their other children’s homes in Arizona, Georgia and Illinois. Edna was offered a babysitting job in Illinois while their daughter and her husband cared for Bob to assist Edna. Bob passed away in October 2003.
Edna stayed in Illinois for 2 years and then moved to Georgia in late 2005. There she enjoyed her thoughtful daughter and son in law as they took her everywhere.
In 2007, Edna moved back to Boise where she lived with her son and daughter in law. She had 2 major surgeries in 2015 and 2019 and was so happy to have survived them both and move into her own place at Northgate Senior Center. Edna passed away in her home on October 25, 2025.
She was a huge Boise State Football and Basketball fan and attended many games. She was also a huge Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed going to many of their games as well.
She is survived by her children: Valerie (George “Bob”) Davis, Vonda (Kirk) McGinnis, Virna (Kevin) McEntee, Kory (Michelle) Pukash, Lynn (Jeff) Roberts, Michael Pukash, Donna (Pete) Cornick, 16 grandchildren, 28+ great grandchildren, 3+ great great grandchildren. Sister Shirley Betz, Brother Irvin Kindsfater and many nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by husbands Donald and Bob, parents Victor and Pauline, sister Marguerite, brother Clarence and son in law Kirk McGinnis.
