Eddie H. Simmons

Eddie “Ed” Howard Simmons passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at his home in Boise surrounded by his family, after a year long battle with cancer.  Ed was born in Mojave, California September 9, 1953 to Lula “Faye” (Riley) Simmons and Samuel Howard Simmons.

Several years later his family moved to Oakdale, California, which is where he attended Oakdale High School. While he was in high school, Ed met Wanda Hartman. The two of them were friends for a couple of years. It wasn’t until September of 1973 they started to date.

Ed moved to Boise, Idaho on June 16, 1974, which was the same day that Wanda moved to Adrian, Oregon with her parents.

In July of 1974, Ed began his career in Printing at Rocky Mountain Bank Note where he was the lead person in the press department. Just two months later on September 1, 1974, Ed and Wanda traveled back to California only to be married in Mariposa, California, then back to Boise where they called home for the last 50 years.  Ed worked at Rocky Mountain Bank Note until they closed the Boise location in August of 1991.  It was several years, and four different places of employment, (only about 2years of this other employment were not as a printer) before he found another secure work place at West Park Printing.  Many, years later, West Park was sold to Allegra-Marketing and Print Solutions. He had worked there until just a year and eight days before his passing.

Some of Ed’s early hobbies included fishing and photography.  He loved woodworking, landscaping, and gardening. Mostly he loved spending time with his family, backyard barbecuing, camping together, watching BSU football, and being called “Papa”.

Ed is survived by his wife, Wanda; his children David (Janet) Simmons, Pam Simmons, and Melissa (David) Ramierez, all of Boise, Idaho; grandchildren, Michael (Shianne) Simmons, of Kansas, Elizabeth Simmons, Angel Simmons, Wyatt and Cameron Simmons, all of Boise, Idaho; great-grandchildren, Tobey Simmons, of Boise, Idaho, O’Ryan and Apollo Simmons, of Kansas; along with his sisters, Judy (Bill) Jones, of California and Jan Chandler, of Arkansas.
