Dr. Bruce Robert Croffy
Dr. Bruce Robert Croffy, 76, passed away on December 22, 2024, in Boise, ID surrounded by loved ones.
Bruce Croffy was born on April 8, 1948, in Jersey City, NJ to John and Virginia Croffy. He enjoyed a wonderful childhood in Westport, CT with his siblings Jay Croffy, Gale Griffiths, Anne Stocking, and Linus Croffy. His passion for learning led him to Sacred Heart University where he completed his undergraduate degree, followed by advanced degrees in Biology and Biochemistry from Boston College and a medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. While he started his medical studies with a focus on research, his true passion involved patient care so he decided to pursue his medical degree, specializing in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He opened a private practice in Salem, Massachusetts and spend 14 years as a practicing physician before making the switch to managed care as a Chief Medical Officer focused on improving patient access and outcomes and identifying cost-effective means to healthcare. He will be remembered for his bedside manner, how deeply he cared for his patients, and his commitment to improving our healthcare system.
Above all, Bruce was a devoted father, husband, and friend. Only his creativity rivaled his intellect; he was not only a healer but a poet, a musician, an avid photographer, and an artist- a true Renaissance man. He loved cooking, traveling, and the outdoors, and any conversation with his children about their work, travel, and families.
He is survived by his wife, Marcy Simpson Croffy, his children, Alessandra Lovett and Danielle Walker, and their mother, Carol Croffy; and his grandchildren, Andrew, Cameron and Brady Lovett, and Jackson and Josefina Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Virginia Croffy.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his sense of humor, intelligence, and unwavering love for his family.
Bruce didn’t wish to have a formal service, however, please feel free to honor and celebrate his life as you see fit.
