Dorothy Grace Caudill passed away peacefully on August 7.2024 at Arbor Valley Nursing Home. Dorothy was born Feb 2, 1943 to Gladys (Virginia) Kehoe and Earl Dean McKay. She attended Kuna High School prior to marrying George Louis Caudill, Sr on Feb 3, 1959 in Caldwell, Idaho. They raised 8 children prior to divorcing in August 1995. They moved frequently throughout the Pacific Northwest before settling in Boise, Idaho.

Dorothy was a kind loving mother who always thought of others before herself. She loved gardening, writing poetry and was involved in Relief Society for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her home was always a haven for anyone in the family who experienced hard times and needed a place to stay. Her home was always buzzing with activity. She would rather give than receive gifts and was always shopping yard sales, thrift stores or anyplace she could find a bargain. Her closet was always full of things she was storing for gifts, including most of the gifts she received. Dorothy was the queen of re-gifting, sometimes re-gifting to the original giver. It was an inside family joke. Dorothy was also a great practical joker, you always had to be on your toes.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Linda Caudill of Lincoln City, OR; George Jr (Tanya) of Seattle, WA; Virginia, “Genny” Potts-Wilson of Ashland, OR; Daniel (Sandee) of Bremerton, WA; David (Morgaine) of Boise, ID; Jeffrey (Joy) of Kuna, ID and Forrest (Sarah) of Austin, TX and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Shannalei, her brother Terry McKay and her parents.

A short graveside service will be held at Morris Hill Cemetery on Thursday, August 15 th at 9 am followed by a Memorial Service at the LDS church at 2299 N Five Mile in Boise on Thursday, August 15 th at 10:30 AM.
