Dorothy Ann (Gappa) Hart, 88, a resident of Star, passed away March 17, 2022, in Star.

Dorothy was born May 20, 1933, in Urbank Minnesota to Joseph and Mary (Dorn) Gappa.  She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Urbank, Minnesota and later graduated from Parkers Prairie High School, class of 1951. She attended St. Cloud Nursing School and graduated in 1954. She also attended Chapman University. Dorothy married Ray Hart on November 24, 1962, in Sunnymead, California.  She resided in Redondo Beach, Torrance, and Dana Point, California.

Dorothy was a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.  She was a registered nurse and retired in 1997 from Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood, California.

She was an avid gardener, enjoyed being a seamstress and doing needlework. Her family was very important to her.

She was a devout Catholic, and volunteered at, St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Lomita, California and at the South Coast Botanic Garden

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Stacy (Mike) Quirarte, of Star, Idaho; grandchildren: Cody (Andrea) Quirarte, of Lake Forest, California; Brandon Quirarte, of Star, Idaho; Ethan (Katie) Quirarte, of Star, Idaho; and Danielle Quirarte, of Boston, Massachusetts.  Dorothy is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Father Herb Gappa, MM, of Maryknoll, New York and 1 sister, Bernie Zerbonia, of Peoria, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray; 1 brother, Richard Gappa and 1 sister, Mary Gappa.

A funeral service will be held 12:00 pm, on Friday, April 8, 2022, at Bowman Funeral Parlor, 10254 W. Carlton Bay Dr. in Garden City, with a committal with military honors to follow at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Rd. in Boise.
