Donald John Tveidt Sr., age 87, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026. He was born on August 30, 1938, in Nampa, Idaho, to John Carl Tveidt and Anna Wilhelmina Hensen.
Don was the oldest of six children, growing up alongside four sisters and one brother. He shared a special bond with his family and was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored.
During his school years, Don enjoyed participating in sports, where he met the love of his life Linda Kay Tveidt. He married her on March 10, 1960. Soon after, he was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where they began building their life together and welcomed a son. A few years later, a daughter completed their family.
After many years of service, Don returned to Idaho, where he worked several jobs before finding his true calling in law enforcement. He proudly served his community as a police officer for 38 years before retiring—a career he held with great pride and dedication.
Don found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, tinkering in his shop, and spending Tuesday mornings over coffee with his fellow retired officers. He cherished time with his family, enjoyed watching his favorite “training films” (cop shows), and spent many hours watching Crocodile Dundee and listening to music.
Above all, Don was deeply proud of the family he created and the legacy he leaves behind.
He is survived by his grandchildren: Jeremy (Trish) Payne, John (Naomi) Payne, Benjamin Tveidt, Julie (Mike) Law, Samantha Tveidt, and Amber Tveidt; as well as his great-grandchildren: Taylor, Hailey, Samantha, Emily, Isabell, Dallas, Mason, Kayden, Arleigh, Ella, and great-great-grandchild Vaeda.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John “Carl” and Anna; his brother “Chick”; his beloved wife Linda; his grandson Dominick; and great-grandson Hunter.
Don will be remembered for his service, his humor, his love for family, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.
