Tribute to Dixie Arnet White
September 18, 1936 – December 3, 2024

Dixie took her last breath in Boise, Idaho on December 3, 2024.

Dixie was born in Los Angeles, CA to Lonnie Allen Love and Ruby Beulah Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis H. White; daughter Lonnie A. Solverson; and son Rodney M. Solverson. She is survived by her son George H. Solverson Jr.; daughter Tami Hicks; grandson Riley Solverson; granddaughter Cacia L. Lewis; and great-granddaughter Eleah R. Lewis.

Dixie was blessed with many friends who would undoubtedly describe her as a fiercely independent, Christ- loving Christian. As a working mother, she raised her children in Seattle, WA. She married Dennis White (Whitie), a passionate outdoorsman who worked for the Forest Service in Darrington, WA. and was deeply devoted to her.

With their children grown, the couple left the hustle and bustle of Seattle and happily settled in the small town of Darrington on a five-acre property, and a home with a front porch view of the picturesque White Horse Mountain. There, Dixie embraced a rural lifestyle of home cooking, wood stove heating, and friendships.

Dixie was no stranger to grief, having lost her young daughter Lonnie in car accident and her husband Dennis from cancer in his 40s. Despite these hardships, she persevered, managing a successful housekeeping business for many years. With the help of a supporting partner, Charles Estes, Dixie made the challenging commute to and from the greater Seattle area working her job into her 70s.

When her partner’s health declined, Dixie sold her home and relocated to Marysville, WA. There she was welcomed into the home of her dear lifetime, ailing friend Judy Cox, and Judy’s caring son, Michael. After several years and the death of her partner, she eventually moved to Boise, ID, where she settled in a comfortable independent living apartment, and quickly became an active member of the in-house bible study group.

Throughout her 88 years, Dixie touched many lives with her loving spirit, forming cherished friendships along the way. She often spoke fondly of the bonds she nurtured throughout her life. Dixie wore her luck of the Irish smile in the 1990s when she won a “$10,000-a-year-for-life” lottery scratch ticket!

Dixie’s surviving son George (Chic) credits his success, and ability to overcome the enviable hardships in life through the emotional support of knowing in his heart he was always loved by his mom.

Final Wish: Dixie demonstrated compassion and kindness to many of God’s creatures who were suffering from hardship or neglect. Dixie would be deeply honored if you would consider making a donation, in any amount you can afford, to the Idaho Humane Society in her name.

In accordance with Dixie’s wishes, no Memorial Service will be held. At a later date, her cremated remains will be laid to rest at a gravesite she reserved long ago – an especially sacred spot next to the grave of her beloved Daughter Lonnie, at the Evergreen Washelli Cemetery in Seattle, WA.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.
