Diane “Penny” Botsch, age 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 5, 2025, following a five-year battle with lung cancer.
Born in South Boston, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Irish and Lithuanian immigrants. Her early life was marked by economic hardship and family instability, including periods of homelessness. Despite these challenges, she demonstrated remarkable resilience, faith, and determination.
Penny moved to California as a young woman with her husband, Walter Botsch (predeceased). Together, they raised three children and operated a small engraving business for nearly four decades. Their partnership reflected shared values of hard work, faith, and family.
Penny was known for her patriotism and unmistakable personal style. Inspired by the military service of her father, brother, and husband, she lived a life of quiet gratitude and service. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, committed to giving her children the stability she never had. Her parenting was guided by instinct, strength, and enduring love.
She was also an active member of her community and church, known for her consistent generosity and support of local charities. She often donated clothing, care packages, and supplies. These quiet acts of kindness were rooted in her own early experiences of need.
Penny is survived by her children: Marc Botsch (Charisse), Veronica Wallace (Roger), and Melanie Osborne, (Dr. Thomas “TJ” Osborn predeceased); her grandchildren, Adam, Ryan, Brianne, Ciara, Ashley, and Benjamin; and her great-grandchildren, Scotlynn, Colbie, and Elijah.
Her life was a testimony of strength through adversity, family devotion, and faith in God. She will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her.
