Diana Lynn Champion

Diana Lynn Champion, born Parker, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, in Meridian, Idaho, surrounded by those who loved her. She was 79 years old.

Diana was born February 4, 1947, in Emmett, Idaho, to Harry and Dorothy Parker. Her life took her to many places throughout the Pacific Northwest, following her career with the United States Forest Service. She worked in Boise, Idaho; Petersburg, Alaska; Cle Elum, Washington; Kettle Falls, Washington; Colville, Washington; and Baker City, Oregon, before returning home to the Nampa area. She ultimately worked at the Forest Service station in Emmett, Idaho, where she retired in 2012.

Diana loved God deeply and gave her life to Jesus at a young age. Since 2003, she attended Ten Mile Christian Center, where she was also involved with The Glory Siders. Her faith was not simply something she talked about—it was something that shone through in the way she lived and cared for others.

Diana was an avid animal lover and had a particular soft spot for cats. She spent time volunteering with West Valley Humane Society, taking in ill felines and helping nurse them back to health so they could have a chance at finding loving homes. She also fostered cats while they waited for their forever families. Her compassion extended to all living creatures, and caring for animals was one of the many ways she expressed her generous heart.

She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed participating in their functions. And, of course, Diana loved her hats. Fancy hats, simple hats, colorful hats—it didn’t matter what the style was. Somehow, she looked beautiful in every one of them. She was always dressed to the nines, and she carried herself with a confidence and grace that were uniquely Diana.

Those who knew her best knew that Diana could be feisty and fiery. She had a strong spirit and was never afraid to let you know what she thought. But beneath that fire was a woman who loved hard and loved deeply. She cared for her neighbors, and they cared for her in return. Even now, some of those neighbors continue to look after her property and her beloved critters—a beautiful testament to the relationships she built and the love she gave.

Diana is survived by her daughter, Keri McKenney, and her husband, Isaac McKenney; her son, Lance Champion; and her son, Shane Champion, and his wife, Cassy Champion. She is also survived by six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; nephews Dan Olson, Dale Olson, and Bret Olson and their families; and niece Lynn Smith and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Dorothy Parker; her sister Nancy; and her sister Bettie Olson and Bettie’s husband, Neil Olson.

Diana will be interred at Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa, Idaho, beside her parents. In keeping with Diana’s wishes, no services are planned. She did not want a fuss—she simply wanted to be with Jesus.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Lighthouse Hospice and Bowman Funeral for the loving care, compassion, and kindness they showed our mom and our family during this difficult time. Your care meant more to us than words can express, and we will always be grateful for the dignity and love you gave Diana.

In lieu of flowers or cards, the family asks that those wishing to honor Diana’s memory consider making a donation in her name to Simply Cats, Happy Jack Cats, Pet Heaven, and/or Lake Lowell Animal Rescue (LLAR).

Diana leaves behind a family who will miss her dearly, friends and neighbors who will remember her fondly, and countless animals whose lives were touched by her compassion. Her fiery spirit, generous heart, beautiful hats, deep faith, and unwavering love will not be forgotten.
