Derald Dean Dillon

Derald Dean Dillon passed away, Tuesday, February 20, 2024, with his wife and daughters by his side. Dean was born March 5, 1930, in Burr Oak, Kansas and later moved with his family to Nampa Idaho. He attended Greenleaf Friends Academy where he met his wife, Letha Clarkson. Greenleaf Academy is where he made many life-long friendships that endure to this day. In 1955 Dean took his young family to Boise Friends Church (Quaker) where his membership remains today. He was devoted to his faith and served wherever he was needed as Sunday School Teacher, Usher, Youth Leader and Sunday School Superintendent. When the new church was constructed on Goddard Road in 1970, dad was there laboring alongside his friends to build the new facility that stands today. Dad’s greatest joys in life were spending time with his family, driving his pink “Lil’ Linda” ski boat, waterskiing, snowmobiling, playing basketball, attending BSU basketball/football games, and riding his Bultaco motorcycle. Professionally, he began his career while still in High School at the Greenleaf Creamery. Later he would join Albertsons Creamery which opened doors for him in the grocery business where he was a sales rep for both Libby and S&W brands. He eventually opened his own food brokerage, Intermountain Sales Inc. In 1982 Dad began a new career in Real Estate and enjoyed many years of success before retiring. His reputation in business was for an exemplary work ethic and honesty.

Dad leaves behind a legacy of unwavering love for his family, unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ and a deep appreciation for friends.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Letha and two daughters, Pat Robert and Ronda (Hugh) Laybourn; Grandchildren Tricia Poole (Shayne), Steven Robert (Lindsey), Mike Laybourn and Matthew Laybourn (Jamie); Great grandchildren, Madyson Sower, Riley, Audrey, Quinton Robert, and Cormac, Brogan, Chloe and Clare Laybourn; and Great-Great Grandchildren, Camdyn and Kadyn Sower. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Wanda Clarkson.

He was preceded in death by his dearly loved son-in-law, Butch Robert, sisters Darlene Combs & Eilene Parsons and parents, Wayne and Jennie Dillon.

Memorial Service is March 9, 2024, at 3pm at the Meridian Friends Church, 1021 W Pine Avenue, Meridian, Idaho 83642. Memorials can be made in Dean’s name to Greenleaf Friends Academy. Live streaming of dad’s service will be available on the Meridian Friends Church Facebook page.
