Dennis James
March 22, 1953-April 8, 2025
Dennis LeRoy James, 72, passed away in Eagle, Idaho on Tuesday, April 8 following complications due to kidney cancer.
He was born on March 22, 1953, in Challis, Idaho to Harry James and Mona (Gustafson) James. It was there he met the woman who would become his partner in life and love for over five decades: Cindy (McCurry) James. They shared a rare and beautiful relationship—rooted in friendship, strengthened by time, and filled with travel and adventure.
Dennis and Cindy didn’t just create a full life together—they built a legacy of love. As devoted parents and grandparents, they showed up for everything that mattered, creating a foundation of support, joy, and connection. Their relationship with their grandchildren was especially rich and full, marked by shared adventures, quiet encouragement, and unconditional love.
Dennis offered kindness as naturally as a breath, with a smile that made people feel at ease and a presence that made them feel seen. His hands were steady, his heart selfless, and his dedication to family and work unwavering. Dennis was happiest when he was in the mountains—whether chasing chukars up a steep hill, bumping along an unexplored backroad, plinking at a target with a new gun, or sharing a simple picnic in the sunshine with the woman he loved more than anything.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cindy; their son, Curt, daughter-in-law, Barb (Bender), and their three beloved grandchildren, Brandyn, Zach, and Miranda. He also leaves behind his mom, Mona and his brothers Doug and David.
In keeping with the manner in which he lived—with quiet meaning and deep connection—no formal service will be held; instead, immediate family will gather privately to celebrate his life and memory.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Cancer Association in memory of Dennis at www.kidneycancer.org .
