Deanna Cecilia Sullivan, 87, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025. She was born on April 18, 1938, in Sioux Lookout, Ontario Canada to Lillian and Cecil Carter. She had four siblings – Margie, Lillian, Flo, and her brother Chris. Deanna lived a full and meaningful life, centered on family, friends and crafting.
Family meant a great deal to Deanna. She was married to Michael Sullivan in 1959 until he passed in 2013. They made homes in upstate New York, Klamath Falls, Oregon, Lakeview, Oregon and finally in Waldport, Oregon on the coast. Deanna worked many years in the hospitality industry, but most notably she worked at The Adobe Resort in Yachats, Oregon where her love of people took her into the world of planning weddings, music festivals, old car shows and many more cherished memories.
Mike and Deanna loved to travel in their RV and went to Canada to visit Deanna’s family, camped all over the west coast, visited their children and their families in Oregon and California, and visited Yellowstone National Park and the Redwoods and went fishing and camping on the Rogue River in Oregon. After Mike’s passing, Deanna went to Canada with her son, Daniel to see relatives. And most recently, Deanna traveled with her daughter’s family to Las Vegas to see her sister Flo and Flo’s son and daughter.
In 2016, Deanna moved to Boise to live near her daughter and her family. They had many adventures together exploring Idaho and participating in her grandchildren’s sporting events, birthdays, holidays, proms, graduations, and weddings. She went to movies, concerts, family gatherings and loved watching hockey with her granddaughter. She loved playing dominos with all of us, but especially with her daughter’s in-laws, Jerry and Virginia Fehringer. Many hours were spent drinking coffee and playing dominos and teasing each other.
Deanna had a creative and fun-loving side. She spent much of her life crafting, quilting, embroidering, crocheting and so many more creative endeavors. She participated in craft fairs, sold her embroidered items at local gift shops along the Oregon Coast, and gave many as gifts to family and friends. She loved playing Bingo and went locally, but also when she traveled.
Deanna is survived by her children and their spouses: Daniel Sullivan and his wife Robin and Valerie Fehringer and her husband Ron; along with five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Patrick, and her husband, Michael.
Deanna leaves behind a legacy of joy and enduring love. Her influence continues in the lives of those she touched. We celebrate her life with gratitude and peace, knowing she has returned home to her Savior and a joyful heavenly reunion.
