David Milton Sletten, 77 of Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully at his home in Boise due to natural causes on May 29, 2024. Born in Wahpeton, North Dakota, the son of Milton P. and Connie (Floyd) Sletten. He graduated from Wahpeton Senior Hight School in 1964. He then attended the North Dakota State School of Science graduating in 1966.
He was a beloved husband, father, and friend who touched many lives. Growing up David spent much of his youth working alongside his father at Sletten Motors, where he learned the values of hard work and perseverance. On June 28, 1969 David married Kathy Geritz of Lakota, ND and they moved to Crookston, Minnesota where he worked at Crookston Marine for many years and shared many days of laughter with friends and family fishing.
David eventually made his home in Boise, Idaho, where he lived with his cherished wife, Kathy. Together, they built a life filled with love and shared passions. One of David’s greatest joys was riding motorcycles and nurturing and caring for his raised garden beds that fed them all summer and into the winters. He was always willing to share with all of the neighbors.
David is survived by his wife Kathy; son Michael Sletten of Boise Idaho; daughter Donna (Chris) Jones of Nampa, Idaho, both of whom carry forward his family values; Mother Connie Sletten of Wahpeton, ND; Sister Bonnie Sletten of Wahpeton, ND; and Sister Diana (Duane) Finnie of Wahpeton, ND. David had several grandchildren and one great grandson.
He is predeceased in death by his daughter Michelle Lehmitz; father Milton Sletten; Sister Barbara (Denny) Fisher.
He leaves behind a legacy and a beautifully tended garden that will continue to bloom in his memory.
In honor of David’s life and his love for gardening, the family requests that any donations be made to a local gardening club. This gesture will help to keep the spirit of David’s passion alive, encouraging others to find the same joy he did in the beauty of nature.
