David Eugene Jennings 74 of Fruitland, Idaho, passed away on January 20, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Meridian, Idaho after a long battle with diabetes and cancer.
Dave was born on April 14, 1951, in Palmer, Nebraska. He was born to Louis” Wesley” and Mildred Estes “Babe” (Fithian) Jennings
Dave graduated from New Plymouth high school in 1969, then attended Boise College where he received a certificate in mechanics. Dave was the Vice President of Safety and Personnel for over 20 years at May Trucking located in Payette, Idaho.
Dave married Debbie Tinsley in 1970, and they had 3 boys (Scott - 1973, Dan - 1974 and Bob - 1980 ); they lived in Fruitland and raised their family there. Later Dave met and married the love of his life Jeanne (Moody) Keenan on October 9, 1988, and added a daughter Erin Smith to the family. Dave and Jeanne remained living in Fruitland where all four of their children would graduate. Dave and Jeanne were self-employed and ran several businesses all while working full-time at other jobs.
Dave was passionate about giving back to the community and got very involved in Free Masonry (world’s oldest fraternity). He was a long-standing member of Washoe Lodge #28 for nearly 21 years. During that time, he held 3 offices at Washoe Lodge #28 which included Worshipful Master of lodge for several years, District Deputy Grand Master of the 7th (now 9th) masonic district for a year, and the secretary of the lodge for numerous years. Dave also received District Mason of the year in 2014. He was so fulfilled with the Payette masonic lodge he wanted to get even more involved. He found other Free Mason groups to join such as El Korah Shriners the local chapter Snake River Shrine Club, Black Light Patrol, Eastern Star, York Rite (Payette #8 Royal Arch Masons, King Solomon Council #4 Cryptic Masons, Idaho Commandery #1 Knights Templar) and the Scottish Rite. Dave regularly participated in the Weiser Lodge #23. He very much enjoyed the people he met along the way and the friendships that were forged through the bonds of Free Masonry.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne Marie (Moody) Jennings, his children, David Scott Jennings (Darci), Daniel William Jennings (Jennifer), Robert Paul Jennings (Jami) and Erin Lee Smith (Ryan) and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: Louis Wesley Jennings, Mildred Estes (Babe) (Fithian Jennings) and his siblings: Ronald Jennings (Mary), Gwen Hutton (Clyde “Junior”), Linda Jennings (Zeke). There were often jokes made that Dave was the only child in the family to be born at the hospital, when they pulled up the letters on the building read “ASYLUM"
