David Leroy Jones or as he was known to most of us, Davy Jones of Boise, Idaho entered the presence of his heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center in Boise. He had fought a 3 year battle with esophageal cancer.

Davy was born on May 10, 1967 to Larry and Donna Goodall and was soon adopted and raised by Richard and Genney Jones. After living in Boise for 4 years, the Jones family, including older brother, Steve, moved to New Ulm, Minnesota where they lived for 6 years before moving back to Boise.

Davy showed an aptitude for drawing and cartooning early in his life, but his first jobs were in the restaurant industry learning the ins and outs of the kitchen which laid the foundation for him to become a talented chef and kitchen supervisor.

After several years working in the kitchen, he transitioned to doing sheet metal work both in Idaho and Nevada. Like most things that he set his mind to, he quickly became skilled at the work and had the reputation for doing good work and often much faster than people expected. In his last 10-15 years, Davy went back to working as a Chef and Kitchen Manager, his last job being at the Stagecoach Inn in Garden City, where he was well-loved!

Throughout his life, Davy had a passion for music! He taught himself to play the drums, but always greatly valued his time taking lessons from Lawson Hill in Boise. He played his drums and sang whenever he could, including playing at Mountain View Church of the Brethren and Euclid Nazarene Church.

He was a skilled artist in multiple mediums! He had mostly sketched and cartooned early in his life, but later on, began expressing himself through the medium of airbrushing. Anyone who watched him airbrush was amazed at how intuitively he knew exactly what materials, colors, and techniques he needed to create incredible pieces of art! In the last two years of his life, he found a new passion for brush painting. Spurred on by his rediscovery of Bob Ross, he created beautiful paintings that he sold, but also as often as not gave away to people to let them know how much he appreciated them!

The greatest joy in Davy’s life was the unexpected reconnection to his birth family in June of this year! Even though their time was short, he deeply cherished his newfound relationships with his sister, Laura, his half-sisters Debbie, Kaleena, and Heidi, as well as his brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and great-niece!

Later in life, Davy grew deeply in his faith and took great joy in studying God’s word and sharing God’s love with those around him. He left this earth with confidence in his destination!

Davy is survived by his children, Damon and Hailey; his adopted mother, Genney Jones; brother, Steve (Linda) Jones; sisters Laura (Stan) Leatham, Debbie (Jim) Johnson, Kaleena Brigham , and Heidi Brigham; nephews Adarsh Jones, Cation Jones, and Tristan Leatham; nieces, Taunie Leatham, Tiffany (Adrian) Quast , and Trinity Leatham; great niece Opal Leatham; Aunt Mildred Meuleman; and cousin Connie (Ray) Grondahl.

Davy was preceded in death by his birth parents, Larry and Donna Goodall, his adopted father Richard Jones, and his cousin Allyn Meuleman.

In lieu of flowers, we would encourage you to make a memorial donation in Davy’s name to Mountain States Tumor Institute.
