Darlene Charlotte Monroe, 80, Boise, passed away November 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, resilience, deep love for family, and a life rich with meaningful experiences.
Born and raised in Hoisington, Kansas, Darlene spent her early years in the heartland before relocating to Santa Cruz, California, where she completed her schooling and began building her life. Santa Cruz remained her home for many years as she lovingly devoted herself to raising her family. Later, she resided in Red Bluff, California for five years, and eventually settled in Idaho, where she spent her later years.
A woman of integrity and dedication, Darlene enjoyed a long and respected career as a Building Inspector for the County of Santa Cruz, a position she held for 16 years. Her commitment to quality, safety, and service made a lasting impact on the community she served. In addition to her public service, she also pursued entrepreneurial endeavors and owned and operated a steakhouse in Scotts Valley, California, for 15 years—an experience that reflected both her hardworking nature and her willingness to take on new challenges.
Outside of her professional life, Darlene found joy in pursuits that reflected her curiosity, creativity, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed reading, investing, gardening, and traveling, each hobby offering her fulfillment in different ways—whether expanding her mind, nurturing growth, or exploring new places.
Those who knew her will remember her for her independence, her thoughtful strength, sense of humor, and her unwavering devotion to her loved ones. Her life touched many, and the memories she leaves behind will be cherished always.
She is survived by her children Jennifer Lemmon-Junker of Star ID and David Lemmon of Gilbert AZ, her sisters Carol Bianconi of Scottsdale AZ, Terri Chappell of Lancaster CA, her brothers Robert Monroe of Sheridan WY and Gary Bianco of TX. Here grandchildren Branden Whittington and Kaylie Whittington, as well as two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents Shirley Bianco and Earl Monroe.
A graveside service will be held, 2:00 pm, Monday, December 15, 2025, at Star Cemetery, 9350 W. Floating Feather Rd., Star, Idaho.
Services are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor, Garden City, Idaho.
