Daniel Jay Russell

Danny J. Russell passed away peacefully at home in Boise, Idaho, on April 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, after an intense and courageous 14-month battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was 79 years old.

Danny was born on January 6, 1947, in Ontario, Oregon. He lived a life defined by strength, devotion, and love for his family. He was the most loving husband to Karen Russell and a proud and devoted father to Tina Harmon of Boise, Idaho, and Traci Nelson of Portland, Oregon. He was also a cherished father-in-law to Bill Harmon and Stuart Nelson. 

Danny married the love of his life, Karen Mills, on February 11, 1968, in Vancouver, Washington. Together, they built a life rooted in love, commitment, and family, sharing many cherished years and memories. He was a loving grandfather to Kyle, Jenna Cash, Levi, Josephine, Asher, Jubilee, Elijah, Danny Nelson, and Devon Harmon. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Juliet, Theodore, George, and Desmond Nelson, and Emmett Cash. 

Danny was preceded in death by Josephine Nelson and Desmond Nelson. He was also preceded in death by his parents, William Russell and Jackie Lunde of Portland, Oregon; his brother, Gary Russell of Hermiston, Oregon; and his sister, Linda Wilson of Portland, Oregon. 

Danny will be remembered for his determination, his caring heart, and the deep love he gave to those closest to him. His presence will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
