Daniel J. Gardner
Daniel J. Gardner, beloved father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on September 9th, 2024 in Dupont, Washington at the age of 57. He was born on July 26th, 1967 in Ontario, Oregon to a loving family who instilled in him a spirit of kindness and generosity that he carried with him throughout his life.
After graduating from Oregon State University in 1991, Dan worked as a pharmacist, specializing in pediatric and oncology pharmacy. He joined the Army Reserves in the fall of 1999 and served multiple deployments in Europe and Central America, often volunteering to go in place of soldiers with young families.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Dan. He loved a quiet evening with a good book, and the occasional indulgence of a fine cigar. Dan found beauty in the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest, and often married his appreciation of nature with his passion for cooking through preparation of a smoked trout that was unfailingly dry (sorry, Dad).
A lifelong learner, Dan found great meaning in the pursuit of knowledge, a value that he instilled in his two children: his daughter, Alexandrea, and his son, Benjamin. As his greatest pride and joy, Dan’s legacy of love and laughter will live on through them.
Daniel was preceded in death by his mother, Mary. He is survived by his two children, his father James, and his siblings Richard, Joseph, Andrew, and Amy. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 807 N. 8th St. in Boise, with Recitation of the Rosary beginning at 10:00 am. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:00 pm at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Rd. in Boise.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.
