Charles Edward Minshew passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026. Charlie was born November 8, 1949, the youngest of three children to James and Virginia (Jean) Minshew in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Charlie was raised in Burley and graduated as Senior Class President from Burley High School in 1968. He attended Utah State University and Boise State College. He went on to graduate with Honors from Idaho State University with a B.S. in Mathematics in December of 1972. He was very proud to have made the Dean’s list each of his college years.
Charlie never stopped educating himself in anything that was interesting to him. His father passed away when he was only 12 years old. His passing caused financial strain on the family, so he learned to work hard at a young age, working various jobs such as hauling hay and working on farms. Through college he fully supported himself working for Boise Interagency Fire Center and BLM. He learned the importance of money management and that skill carried on throughout his life, as he religiously studied the stock market and learned to trade his own stocks.
Charlie was very blessed to have found a career in the firefighting industry on the aviation side. He loved talking about the places to where he had traveled, the situations encountered and the good times that were had in the field. After college, he became a partner in a brand-new company, Crew Concepts where he handled the business and financial side. Years later the company was purchased by Kachina Aviation where he also became a partner. He spent his last 25 years with the company as a fuel truck driver. He was well liked and respected by all who worked with him.
The only thing Charlie loved more than his career was his family. Though he never married or had children of his own, he treated and loved his two nieces Jennifer and Debby like they were his own and they adored every part of him. The love he had not only for them, but his entire family was immeasurable. You could always find him attending one of the kids’ sporting events, dance recitals, or plays both near and far. He also greatly enjoyed traveling, working out and playing golf or cards with his buddies. We all used to laugh and say we knew exactly when it was dinnertime, because Charlie would always time it perfectly to pop in for a visit! He had an especially close relationship with his older sister of three years, Peggy. He would stop in to see her almost every single day he was in town and not working. If he didn’t stop by, he called. They each watched over one another with such great love. They also shared their birthday which neither was excited about as kids, but as they grew older, they took great pride in celebrating the day together. It didn’t matter which place Charlie would frequent, he was known and loved by all.
Charlie is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Peggy Lesh. He is also preceded in death by his two dogs, Lucky and Missy. Charlie is survived by his brother Ross (Beverley) Minshew of Twin Falls, his Brother in law Mike Lesh of Meridian, Nieces Jennifer (Ben) Grundhauser of Eagle, Debby Gaustad and her fiancé Kevin McGinley of Meridian, many great nieces, nephews, cousins, and his best friend of 71 years who was as close as a brother, Bruce Belliston, of Nampa.
Our family would like to give a special thanks to Grace Memory Care center in Meridian, and to All Care Hospice. Both cared for Charlie with such love and compassion all the way to the end. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that a donation be made to a charity of your choice in his name.
