Charles “Hardy” Hardin Howard, 58, of Boise, Idaho, passed away surrounded by loved ones on July 23, 2025. He was born on November 25, 1966, in Wasco, California, to his parents, Betty and Charlie Howard.

Hardy grew up in Boise, Idaho, and graduated from Borah High School. Shortly after, at the age of 21, he joined the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his country for 35 years before retiring in 2022 at the age of 56.

Hardy was an outstanding father to three children—Morgan, Hunter, and Kylee—and an incredible “Pop” to his granddaughter, Lucille. His greatest joy in life was being a devoted father and grandfather; his children were truly the center of his universe.

He was passionate about spending time with his family and enjoyed the things he loved most: elk hunting, fishing in his boat, crabbing and clamming on the Oregon Coast, and, of course, cooking amazing meals. Hardy had a genuine, loving, and carefree spirit that touched everyone who knew him. He welcomed everyone with open arms, an infectious personality, and a warm smile.

He is survived by his father, Charles Howard; his three children, Morgan, Hunter, and Kylee Howard; his granddaughter, Lucille McCauley; and his sisters, Kelle (Joe) Teshera and Deborah Boyer, along with several nieces and nephews.

Hardy will be missed terribly by his family and friends, but we rest assured knowing that his heart and kindness lives on in everyone who was blessed to know him in this life.
