Dr. Charles (Charlie) W. Green, 72, was born February 26, 1951, to Gordon H. and Eleanor O. Green in Minneapolis, MN and he received his angel wings on February 7, 2024. Charlie moved with his family to Sioux City, IA in 1956. This was home for his childhood, youth and adult years until arriving in Boise, Idaho in 1987 in his 1973 Pontiac Catalina Station Wagon. It was easy to park the Pontiac when it developed serious cylinder problems and the best gas mileage in the city was 4 miles per gallon. Charlie had been a committed cyclist since 1974 so making the transition to his bicycle as his primary mode of transportation was a no brainer, and it remained that way until 2014 when he adopted a motorized life again on a Scooter. The Scooter was donated to a non-profit when a lifelong dream of owning a real motorcycle was fulfilled with the purchase of a 2023 Moto Guzzi V7 Special in July 2023. The miles were few, but the pleasure was immense.
Charlie was a graduate of Sioux City Central High School, Western Iowa Tech, Iowa Central Community College, University of Minnesota-College of Forestry, and Palmer College of Chiropractic. After graduation from Palmer, Charlie committed the next 37 years of his life to his patients and their natural healing and continued to provide his healing touch until seven weeks prior to his death. Charlie was given the gift of being a gentle and wise healer and he did it in his own quiet and reserved manner.
Charlie had numerous interests including target shooting which began in the 7th grade and resulted in him achieving the Distinguished Expert Medal and becoming one of America’s top riflemen as announced by the National Rifle Association of America. He volunteered one night a week, six months a year for 32 years at the Meridian Optimist Junior Rifle Club as a coach and mentor. He loved those kids and was ecstatic when they achieved their goals. During the early 1970’s he spent his summers at a primitive Boy Scout Camp and Camp Lincoln for Boys as the marksmanship program director. He was an avid reader and student of history, World War II, photography, ship building and guns. He loved working with wood in his shop and left behind an unfinished ship model and display case for a restored Tlingit Tribe halibut hook. Charlie embarked on many adventures on his bicycle, including his solo six-month trip in Europe in late 1980 and early 1981. Before and after this trip he rode over fifteen 100 milers around Duluth and Minneapolis. It was in 2017 when a patient and friend introduced him to climbing at Asana Climbing Gym. The rest is history, as climbing became his passion for exercise. Climbing gave Charlie the hope and strength for survival when he was diagnosed with metastatic colon cancer in July 2020, and he decided he would take on the challenge for six months of chemotherapy and multiple surgeries. He never gave up the passion for climbing and always strived to remain a productive and contributing human being.
Charlie, a chiropractor with a spine-tingling sense of humor, and Lucinda, a tax accountant with a knack for numbers, met serendipitously later in life, where fate decided to audit their solo journeys. Despite never having been married before, they found their perfect alignment and decided to embark on a joint venture, merging their expertise to navigate the twists and turns of life’s challenges. Together, they discovered that whether adjusting spines or balancing books, the key to harmony lies in finding the right balance.
Charlie felt he deserved a few more years and didn’t want to leave his Love, best friend and wife, Lucinda, sister Carol (Leck) Arnold of Plano, TX, brother Norman (Mary) Green of Los Angeles, CA, numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, but God in his wise wisdom had other plans for him.
Charlie was preceded in death by his Dad, Gordon Green, his Mom, Eleanor Green, grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
Special thanks to Davida Mitchell, Acupuncturist, Dr. Dan Zuckerman and staff, Dr. Kevin Hearon, Dr. Todd Pickman, Judith Allen, Reiki Master and hospice nurses Rhea and Jamie for their unconditional care and love during Charlie’s journey with cancer.

The fulfillment of Charlie’s wishes will be to spread his ashes along the Boy River in Remer, MN at a later date, near the location of his Uncle John’s cabin. The many summer vacations spent at the cabin were some of the happiest memories of his life running, roaming, fishing, canoeing and being at peace with God and nature.
A memorial service will be held, 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 17, 2024 at True Hope Church, 607 N. 13th. Street., Boise.
