Catherin Ann Notz, a beloved wife, step-mother, step-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully at home on November 15, 2024, in her hometown of Boise, Idaho, at the age of 68, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on May 12, 1956, Cathy was a lifelong resident of Boise, where she dedicated her life to her family, her passions, and her community.

Cathy was the cherished daughter of Eugene Mathis Sperl and June Muriel Sperl, both of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from Borah High School in 1974, setting off on a journey filled with love, adventure, and unwavering positivity. On September 27, 2008, she married her soulmate, Rodney Notz, and together they shared 16 wonderful crazy years of marriage and 22 years of exploring the world around them and creating countless memories.

Cathy was a devoted step-mother to Brandon, AJ and Chelsea Notz. She also leaves behind loving brothers, Eugene (Spouse Li) Sperl , Ronald (Spouse Joan) Sperl. Cathy took immense pride in her role as a step-grandmother to nine grandchildren, showering them with love, support, and encouragement as they grew.

Throughout her life, Cathy exhibited an extraordinary love for animals, particularly "her kitties", and dedicated herself to supporting all animal shelters and organizations she could find. Her compassion extended beyond animals; she was also an active participant in natural disaster relief efforts, showcasing her commitment to helping those in need.

Cathy's interests were as vibrant as her spirit. She loved spending time in the mountains, capturing the beauty of nature through her photography, and enjoyed fishing – all of which she often did with Rodney, exploring the great outdoors together. Her positivity and loving nature were evident to everyone who knew her; she was a beacon of light in the lives of many.

Cathy's funeral service will be held privately on November 22, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the ASPCA, an organization she passionately supported throughout her life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice team from Enhabit for their compassionate care during this difficult time. Cathy will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family and animals will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
