Carolyn Kaye Nyquist

October 21, 1950 — June 10, 2026

Carolyn K. Nyquist, 75, passed away on June 10, 2026. She was born on October 21, 1950, in Nampa, Idaho.

Carolyn grew up in Boise and graduated from Boise High School. In 1969, she married Kenny Rhodes, and together they enjoyed countless car shows, where they made many lifelong friends. They shared these adventures—and their love of the outdoors and family—with her niece Christina and nephews Skip and Charlie, and later welcomed their own children, Jennifer and Andrew.

Carolyn never met a stranger; she welcomed everyone with open arms. She was famous for her pumpkin and banana bread, often leaving loaves on doorsteps as small, surprising tokens of love. Carolyn and Kenny divorced in 1982, and later in life she married Clarence Stockstill. The two moved to Eagle, where she embraced country living—her love of animals and being outdoors was unmatched. Through it all, she held a deep and lasting connection to her faith and family.

Carolyn was tenacious and feisty, loving and caring. Later, spent many years working for Boise Utility Department. In 2022, she retired as a special needs assistant at Seven Oaks Elementary School — a role that reflected her lifelong love of helping others.

Carolyn loved hosting Sunday family dinners and lived by an open-door policy — everyone was always welcome at her table! She had a generous heart and skilled hands, sewing quilts for anyone in need and making children's aprons and handbags with homemade quilts for the Ronald McDonald House. A devoted member of the Eagle Quilt Ministry at Eagle Christian Church and a proud keeper of chickens, Carolyn was affectionately known to many as "the quilt and chicken lady."

Carolyn will be remembered for her compassion, generosity, and the countless lives she touched through her kindness and her craft. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Jennifer; grandchildren, Cody and Morgan; son, Andrew, and daughter-in-law, Debbie; sister; Hannah May, niece and nephews, Christina, John, Charlie and Skip; and many beloved cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Preceded in death by Clarence Stockstill, Florence May Nyquist, Ralph Nyquist, Larry Nyquist and Fred Nyquist.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Carolyn’s name be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Idaho and quilting supplies to Eagle Quilt Ministry.
