Carolé died in her home in Star, Idaho on the January 5, 2025.  Cause of death was multiple myeloma.  She was born on June 30, 1945 in Moscow, Idaho.  She was the daughter of Wilmer Glen Priest and Margery Josephine Sprecker.  She was the second of five children.  Her father was serving in World War II in Italy when she was born.  She grew up on farms in Rupert and Jerome, Idaho.  She attended elementary school at Pioneer School, west of Rupert.  She even occasionally rode her horse to school for fun.  Junior High was in Rupert, Idaho, and High School was at Minico and Jerome.  She managed the concession stand, sold entrance tickets, and was a life guard at the Jerome city pool.  She also worked at the A & W Root Beer Stand, and thinned beets with an all-girl crew of her peers.  Carolé graduated from Jerome High School in 1963.

She then attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho.  She majored in Office Administration in the College of Business.   It was at the University that she met her husband, Everett Harrington Black III.  They were married in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on the 28 th of August 1964.  Everett was known as “Rusty”.  Upon his graduation from the University of Idaho in 1967, he was commissioned as an officer in the Air Force and the family moved to Enid, Oklahoma for Rusty’s Pilot training at Vance Air Force Base.  He flew the C-130 Hercules cargo plane for several years in Okinawa, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Panama, Turkey, England, and Virginia.  The family lived in Moscow, Idaho, Enid, Oklahoma, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Boise, Idaho, Naha, Okinawa, Hampton, Virginia., and then back to Moscow, Idaho.

They became the parents of five children:  Everett Black IV, Travis Black, Tara Black, Matthew Black and Benjamin Black.

Carolé was the secretary at the Moscow Idaho Institute of Religion from 1978 to 2005.  She loved the University of Idaho (Go Vandals Go!) and interacting with college students on a daily basis.  She also enjoyed musicals, sports of all kinds (Basketball and Football at the top).  She played golf daily at Twin Lakes Village and was President of her League for several years.  She appreciates humor, traveling, reading, puzzles, shopping, seasonal decorating, family genealogy, grandchildren, and in her retirement years she enjoyed watching the evening news while she rode her stationary bike.  She was always very organized and a very loyal diligent worker.  She strove for excellence in every endeavor.  She was also very courageous in the trials of life, never feeling sorry for herself.

Her husband, Rusty, died of cancer in 1994.  Her son Benjamin was killed in a car accident in 1994.  She later married Tom Ellis Jenness.  Following retirement, she served with her husband Tom as the Palmyra New York Education Center Directors.  They then served as Career Development Directors at Southern Virginia University from 2009, 2012-2015.

Outside of work and family, Carolé served faithfully in various capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Among these capacities were Cub Scout Den Leader, Primary President, Ward and Stake Young Women’s President, Ward and Stake Relief Society President, a Coeur d’Alene Employment Service Missionary, a Pathway Education Missionary, and a Spokane Temple Worker.

She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend.  Her children were her greatest treasure!

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, husband Rusty, son Benjamin, and step grandson: Matthew Jenness.  She is survived by: her husband, Tom, 3 sisters, Sally, Sandra, and Nancy, 1 brother, Grant, 4 children: Everett, Travis, Tara, and Matthew; 18 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 4 step children: Kathleen, Richard, Eric and Jannifer; 16 step grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren, two aunts, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on January 18, 2025, from 9:30-10:45 am with a Funeral service follow at 11:00 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 484 South Main Street, Star, Idaho.

A committal service will be in the Moscow, Idaho cemetery, 1650 Troy Road, Moscow, Idaho on January 21, 2025, at 11:00 am.
