Carol J. Wallace (McGregor), age 92, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024, at her home in Boise, Idaho.
Carol was born in Watsonville, California, 1931, the youngest of five children, to parents Stanley William and Marieta Frances McGregor (nee Crowl). She attended Colorado University on a scholarship at the young age of sixteen. Carol met Johnnie Lee Wallace in 1951 during her summer vacation, and after graduating from college in 1952 with a degree in Sociology, she and Johnnie married in Soda Springs, Idaho. They moved to Richland, Washington, where Johnnie worked as a pharmacist, then relocated to Boise in 1953 where their two daughters, Tawnie and LeAnne, were born.
Both Johnnie and Carol were involved in Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Shriners and Jobs Daughters. Carol remained deeply involved in her faith at the Presbyterian church throughout her life and served as both Deacon and Elder.
After Johnnie’s death in 1976, Carol married longtime family friend, Arthur (A.J.) Miller. They were together for 8 years.
In 1965, she attended Link’s School of Business, (later ITT), and was hired that same year as their typing instructor. Carol was promoted to Chief Instructor of the Business Department in 1984 and became the Education Supervisor in 1994. She received many distinctions in her career including starting the school newspaper and sorority, initiating the Student Emergency Fund, and earning the Education Excellence Award as Chief Instructor multiple times. Carol retired in 1995. She was an avid traveler and spent time in Jordan with the International Executive Service Corps setting up business training with the YWCA.
Widely known for her humor and spirit, she will be terribly missed by all. Her surviving family includes daughters Tawnie Hinkley (Dave) and LeAnne Wallace (Randy), granddaughters Sara Hensley (David), Lisa Whitwell (Ash), Clare Zlatkov (Dimitar), Megan Mickum (Spencer), 9 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Carol always took great pride in her flower gardens and was a mom to multiple dogs that provided her with companionship, comfort, and daily walks. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to your local animal shelter.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, May 31, 2024 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 4848 N. Five Mile Rd., Boise, Idaho 83713.
