Bonnie Mae Hagerty, 80, of Caldwell, Idaho, passed away June 28, 2023. Bonnie was born September 6, 1942 in Hemet, California to parents Edward and Martha (Thorough) Munson.

Bonnie attended Hemet High School in Hemet, California, graduating in 1961. On July 15, 1961, at the Chappelle of the Bells, Las Vegas, Nevada, Bonnie married Richard R. Hagerty. The couple remained married for nearly 62 years.

Bonnie and family moved from Hemet to San Clemente, California in 1963. In 1966 Bonnie and Richard moved to San Juan Capistrano, CA.  In 1977, they moved the family to Corvallis, Montana, in the Bitterroot Valley, where they had horses, a dairy cow, and a bull calf. In 1980, they moved across the valley and began building their black angus herd and raising a few Charolais calves. Bonnie and Richard enjoyed horse-packing trips in the Bitterroot and being outside. In 2000, Bonnie and Richard moved to Idaho, where they settled on 16 acres in Sand Hollow where they continued to enjoy their horses, family, and being outdoors.

Bonnie was a great dancer and enjoyed playing cards in the early years, and later gained a love for gardening, and horseback riding.

Bonnie was a caregiver to her mother, husband, children, and her community. She tended to a large garden, changed pipes in the fields, and took tremendous care of all of her animals. Throughout the years, Bonnie had numerous dogs, cats, horses and cows, treating them all with great love and attention.

Bonnie attended the Nazarene Church in Corvallis, MT, and volunteered at the local schools her sons attended.

She is survived by her husband, Richard R. Hagerty of Caldwell, Idaho; children, Mark (Shawna) Hagerty of Meridian, Idaho, and Mike (Nerissa) Hagerty of Meridian, Idaho; grandsons, Dustin (Jessica) Hagerty, Ryan Hagerty and Jake Hagerty, all of Boise, Idaho; granddaughter, Alexis Rickers of Boise, Idaho; great granddaughter Haisley Hagerty of Boise, Idaho (daughter of Dustin (Jessica) Hagerty; sister, Barbara Ingalls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her brother Edward Munson Jr.

A committal service will be held, 1:00 pm, Monday, July 10, 2023 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd., Boise, Idaho.
