Beverly Kathleen DeWitt (Agarth) was the youngest daughter of Vernon and Audrey Agarth. She was a baby boomer born after Vernon returned home from serving in World War II. She grew up in Lynwood, California alongside her older siblings, Sanford and AnnaMae.
After graduating from high school, Beverly attended Cerritos College to pursue an associate degree in dental assisting. It was during a study session in the college library that Beverly, typically shy and soft-spoken, spotted a handsome young Navy veteran across the table named Louis DeWitt. To her own surprise, she took a chance and said "Hi." That single greeting captured Louis's heart forever. After securing her parents' approval, Louis asked for her hand in marriage in classic Louis style… in the parking lot of the Lakewood Mall. She said yes, beginning a devoted partnership that would span over 60 years.
In the early years of their marriage, Beverly showed incredible grace and resilience, working to help put Louis through college while welcoming their first child, Jeffrey. Shortly thereafter, they welcomed their daughter, Jennifer. Beverly was a deeply devoted mother, balancing part-time work as a dental assistant and later administrative assistant. She always prioritized her family, ensuring she was home to greet her kids after school, never missing an activity, and offering a warm hug, and supportive words whenever they were needed.
Over six decades, Beverly was the heart of the family through moves to San Jose, California; Milford, Michigan; Southlake, Texas; and finally Boise, Idaho. Leaving her parents and siblings behind to build a home in new places took a quiet type of strength and courage. Beverly poured that energy into creating a warm, loving, and nurturing home wherever they lived, keeping her family anchored and close.
Beverly embraced life with energy and flair. She enjoyed water skiing (prior to watching the movie JAWS), playing golf, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and dancing with Louis, whether square dancing, ballroom, or Western line dancing.
Above all, Beverly treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren. She adored the holidays, especially Christmas, and poured her heart into creating magic and lasting memories. Her Christmas tree was always breathtakingly beautiful. From hosting annual gingerbread house making parties to taking the kids holiday ornament shopping, it was always a wonderful time when you were with Grandma. She rarely missed a school performance and was a regular in the pickup line after school (before the grandkids could drive).
Beverly led a life defined by kindness, grace, and love. She made everyone feel special, never missing a birthday and always celebrating the important moments in the lives of those around her. She is survived by her loving husband, Louis DeWitt; her son, Jeff DeWitt; her daughter, Jennifer DeWitt; her six beloved grandchildren: Joelle, Julianne, Josie, Georgia, Henry, and Emery; and her brother, Sanford Agarth. She was preceded in death by her sister, AnnaMae.
Her family was the absolute joy of her life, and they stand as living testaments to her devotion to family and love.
Beverly will be laid to rest at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, where she will eventually be reunited with her husband, Louis.
