Betty Raymond, 83, passed away Wednesday, December 20 at her home in Eagle following an extended illness.  She was born to Arnold and Arvila Brinker on May 30, 1940 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  The family later relocated to Siletz, Oregon, where Betty attended elementary and high school, graduating in 1958.  She married James L. Raymond, formerly of McCall, Idaho in 1960.  Their son, Jeff was born in 1961 at Camp Pendleton, California, and their daughter, Susan was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1966.  Jim’s career in the United States Navy took their young family to many duty stations in the US, as well as the Philippine Islands and Okinawa.  During Jim’s service in Viet Nam from 1967-1968, Betty and the children lived in Salem, Oregon.  Betty was active in officers’ wives clubs and the Navy Relief Organization at many of Jim’s duty stations.

Betty and Jim have lived in Eagle since 1987, following Jim’s retirement.  Betty is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, son Jeff, daughter Susan, both of Boise, her brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Jeanie of Salem, Oregon, sister Pat Valet of Toledo, Oregon, sisters and brothers-in-law Bonnie and Larry Weaver of Siletz, Oregon, and Debbie and Eugene Williams of Toledo, Oregon.  Other survivors include two grandaughters, Katelyn Martin and Meghan Wheatley, and three great grandchildren, Sophia and Isaac Martin, and Myles Wheatley.

Betty was greatly admired for her beauty and elegance.  A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
