Beatrice (Bea) Hendrix, 98 of Meridian, formerly of Buhl, passed away September 27, 2022, surrounded by family.
Bea was born May 11, 1924, in Twin Falls, Idaho, to Clifford George and Margaret Rebecca Dudley Thomas. She was the second of five children with the other four being brothers. Bea grew up in Filer, attended school in Filer and graduated from Filer High School in 1942.
After graduation she attended Twin Falls Business College.
Bea was married to J.C. Hendrix, Filer, on October 31, 1942, until his passing November 4, 2002. While living in Buhl, she worked for the Buhl School District. She was also active in Cedar Draw Grange and was a 4-H leader and taught sewing and cooking. Her love of sewing and cooking continued throughout her life. Mom’s favorite day was baking cookies on a rainy day, and she loved trying new recipes. She also loved camping with family and friends, playing bridge, reading, Monday coffee with her friends, and the yearly trip to the Oregon Coast.
Bea lived in Buhl, until she moved to Meridian in 2011. She continued to sew, making quilts for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also took up a new hobby, loom knitting stocking caps, which many were given to family and friends, and many were donated to MSTI.
She is survived by her children, Sandra (Larry) Roberts, New Plymouth, Gerald (Ann) Hendrix, Meridian, and Julie (Clancy) Mellinger, Boise. Also surviving are two grandsons Scott (Michelle) Roberts, Nampa, Marc (Rebecca) Roberts, Boise, a granddaughter Lindsey (Casey) Ballard, Ogden, Utah, and her great-grandchildren Rachel Roberts, Andrew Roberts, Michael Ballard, Grace Ballard, Lydia Ballard, Mercy Ballard, Nehemiah Ballard and Mary Ballard, her brothers Cliff Thomas of Austin, Texas, Lynn (Irene) Thomas, Twin Falls and Victor (Judy) Thomas, Pocatello.
Bea was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson Duane Hendrix, and a brother Lyle Thomas.
A committal service will be held, 2:00 pm, October 17, 2022 at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 Horseshoe Bend Rd., Boise, Idaho.
