Barbara Lapriel Lakey Kuchenriter

Barbara Lapriel Lakey Kuchenriter was born to Wally and Lois Lakey on June 16 th, 1943 in Colville, Washington. Her family moved to Idaho when she was young. She attended Boise High School before moving to Meridian for her senior year and graduated in 1961.

On May 6 th, 1966 she married Louis Kuchenriter and they traveled the world during his years in the Air Force. Their first daughter, Stephanie Lynn, was born in Germany in 1968, and their second daughter, Lesley Gay, was born in the Philippines in 1972.

After several more moves, they returned to Boise in 1978. Barbara worked for Mountain Bell/Qwest for many years and retired in 1998. During her working years she was involved in different civic organizations including When You Wish Upon a Star and the American Business Women’s Association. She was especially happy when her daughters married and brought sons into the family. During retirement, she and Lou enjoyed trips to Mazatlán, Mexico with friends in the winter. She enjoyed creating jewelry, playing cards, spoiling her grandchildren, and cooking for her friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, and her husband, Lou.

She is survived by her two daughters; Stephanie (Erik) Hansen, and Lesley (Dallas) Wilkinson; her four grandchildren, Kelsey (CJ) Johnson, Jessica Hansen, Jacob Hansen, and Bailey Wilkinson; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, John and Gay Hughes, and many wonderful friends.
