Barbara was born on July 24, 1933, in Nampa, Idaho to Sam and Thelma Clarkson. She was raised on the Clarkson ranch in Horseshoe Bend for 17 years. She graduated from Horseshoe Bend grade school, and from Emmett High School in 1950. Barb worked for Vera and Jack Garret while attending high school.
She married Jack Mansfield in 1950. Jack was drafted into the Army that same year. He was stationed at the Presidio Army Base in San Francisco, California, serving as a MP in the Military Police Company.
Barbara joined Jack after graduation. They spent fifty-six years living in different cities in California, the longest being in Monterey Park, California.
Barb was employed by Allstate Insurance Co. for nine years.
On a trip to Idaho, they were involved in a car accident that left Jack paralyzed from the chest down. Barbara took care of him until his death in 2006 at which time she returned to Idaho.
They both accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and had a youth group for many years.
Barbara loved to sew. She made all her own clothes. She also loved to garden and had the prettiest garden in the neighborhood in Monterey Park. The children in the neighborhood called it “the park” and would always ask if it was open to play in, and it always was.
Barbara is survived by one sister, Joan Miller and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded death by her husband, Jack Mansfield, by her parents, Sam and Thelma Clarkson, sisters Pat Folwell, Polly Woods and brothers, Philip, Ronald and Jim Clarkson.
Donations may be made in honor of Barbara Mansfield to the Make A Wish Foundation, 310 W. Idaho Street, Boise, Idaho 83702.
