Arley Joseph Hanna was born September 7, 1933, the fourth child of Joseph Hanna and Frances Wagner Hanna in a farmhouse on the family homestead outside Petersburg, Nebraska.  He died on September 5, 2024, in a local memory care facility after an extended illness, two days short of his 91 st birthday.

His family moved to Emmett, Idaho in June 1940, where he subsequently grew up, was active in high school football, basketball, and track, graduating from Emmett High School in 1951.  He enrolled in the US naval reserve while in high school and later served two years active duty assigned to the repair ship USS Laertes in San Diego.  He was a first class petty officer machinists mate and upon his discharge from the Naval Reserve in September 1955, began his career as a pipefitter and plumber, attending Boise Junior College’s vocational plumbing and heating night school for five years while working days for Intermountain Plumbing and Heating.  He worked for Vandegrift Plumbing and Heating from 1958-1970, then established Boise Plumbing and Heating which he led until retirement in 1998.

He married Bonnie Jean Huebert in Mountain Home, Idaho on April 15, 1955.  They made their home in Boise and had three children, Don, Ken, and Cynthia.  After retirement, he and Bonnie traveled extensively across north America.  They loved to go places with family and friends and particularly enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, boating, eating out, swimming, scenic drives, snowmobiling, waterskiing and deep sea fishing.  Favorite Idaho haunts were Silver Creek Plunge, Idaho City hot springs, Middle Fork of the Payette, Anderson Reservoir, and especially the SISCRA campground in Donnelly.  They considered their family and friends to be the greatest blessing in their lives.

He was preceeded in death by his wife Bonnie, his parents Joe and Frances, three siblings, Violet Friend, Orville Hanna, and Merle Hanna.

He is survived by his children, Don (Janet) Hanna and their sons; grandson Adam Rupel (Kelly) and great grandchildren Lexi, Aiden, and Charlotte, grandson Steve Hanna (Lisa) and great granddaughters Rachel and Aubrie, and grandson Paul Hanna; Ken (Tracy) and grandsons Weseley Hanna, Timmothy Hanna, and Bryce Whitlock; Cynthia Mantey and grandsons Michael 2 (Kyra), and Jonathon (Autumn) and great granddaughter Brooklyne.  Three children, eight grandsons, and five great granddaughters, and one great grandson.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the Plumbers and Pipefitter Union.  His memorial service will be held at Bowman Funeral Parlor, 10:00 am, Saturday, October 26, 2024, Rev Jack Bynum officiating.
