Arlene Pope Wood,87, died on March 27, 2025 in Boise, Idaho. The fourth child of Terrel Everett Pope and Cleo Louise Cheney Pope, born on January 17, 1938, in Boise, Idaho. Graduated from Emmet High School, class of ‘56. Later married Robert “Bob” Merritt Haggerty on May 31, 1956. While in the Air Force stationed in Guam they adopted Kari Lee from Souel Korea and brought her to the states in 1964. On December 25, 1964 she remarried Melvin B Larson, together they lived in Washington while she worked at Boeing Airlines. On April 9, 1971 she remarried Walter Henry Wood at the Emmett LDS chapel expanding the family. From 1978-81 Walt and Arlene ran the “Wacky Woodshop” off 9116 Sunflower Lane. Arlene was a devoted crafter, and a beacon of laughter in her community. She loved playing pinochle with her family and had various roles in her bowling league. She retired from Franklin Building Supply in 1990 and was dearly missed. Arlene was a loving daughter, sister and wife. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints.
Survived by her sibling Ronald (Pat) Pope, her children, (Kari Baumhoff-Hernandez and Barbra Jane Poe) with 3 grandchildren (David Wood Reed, Vincent Bryan Baumhoff and Harmony Baumhoff-Freter) 4 great grandchildren (Robin Kay Reed, Edward Oscar Freter, Eleanora Ophira Freter and Emily Opal Freter) and beloved Chihuahua Reggie Bush. Preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, sisters (Laprille Bernard and Berva Rasmussen), and brother (Trent Leroy Pope).
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 12, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 701 S. Curtis Road. On the corner of Curtis and Cassia, next to Borah High School.
