Arden Dale Drake

Arden Dale Drake, aged 96, passed away peacefully at Overland Court in Boise, Idaho on July 20th, 2025.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 pm noon, on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the Mountain Home Elks Lodge, 325 S. 3rd W. St. in Mountain Home. A private committal will take place at Mountain View Cemetery in Mountain Home.

Arden was born August 31st, 1928 to Edgar L. Drake and H. May (Kelly) Drake in Nampa, Idaho. He graduated from Nampa High school in 1946 and earned his Bachelor of Science from the College of Pharmacy at Idaho State College (now University) in 1951. He then worked in Gooding, Idaho as the pharmacist at Sav-Mor Drug. Arden opened Sav-Mor Drug store in Mountain Home in 1954.

He married the love of his life, Joanna Wirsching, on November 8th, 1952 and they moved to Mountain Home to open Sav-Mor Drug in 1954 where they raised four children together. When Arden was not at the pharmacy, he took his family to their cabin in Pine where they enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and four wheeling. When Arden retired in 1978, Arden and Joanna loved traveling to new places and visiting friends in their RV with their club.

Arden and Joanna enjoyed hosting family holidays at both their home in Mountain Home and cabin in Pine surrounded by kids and grandkids. He would play the organ while she would cook and hide Easter Eggs in the yard. Arden enjoyed watching football and sitting in the sun. He was known for his sense of humor and willingness to participate in the community.

He is preceded in death by his spouse, Joanna, both parents, three brothers and one sister.

Arden is survived by his children, Kayla Parsons of Mountain Home, Renee Drake of Boise, Kevin Drake (Amanda) of Prairie and Perry Drake of Boise. He leaves 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.
