Anne Staples Stone
Anne Staples Stone, age 93, walked on to the spirit world surrounded by her loved ones on June 9, 2023.
Anne was born in Danbury, Wis., on July 17, 1929, to William and Katherine Staples. She graduated from Webster High School in Webster, Wis., and went on to work in the Twin Cities before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. While stationed in Germany, she met and fell in love with fellow USAF service member Paul. Their jobs took them and their family around the world until they finally settled in Riverside, Ca. Anne then worked for the Riverside County Hospital, from which she retired. In 2004, they moved to Nampa, Id., to be near their children and their families.
Anne was a proud member and elder of the St. Croix Chippewa Indians of Wisconsin, recognized as the tribe’s oldest living veteran in 2019.
Her last months were brightened by her caregivers, neighbors, and hospice workers.
She is survived by her children, Paulette (Jerry) Laird, Paul Stone, Jr., and Annette (John) Sampson; grandchildren David (Liz) Hartman, Rayne Sampson, and Margaret and Anthony Stone; great-grandchildren David J., Brittany, and Brian Hartman; brother Wayne Staples; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins in Danbury and abroad.
She is predeceased by her parents, sisters Ruth Holmes and Josephine Zenor, brother Joseph Staples, and beloved husband Paul, as well as their Shih Tzus Angel, Angel, and Angel.
A committal service, with military honors will be held at 10:00 am, on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Rd. in Boise, Id., where she will be laid to rest with Paul.
