Listen to Obituary

Anne Elizabeth “Betty” Clayton 88, Shoshone passed away on January 14, 2026, surrounded by her three children.

Betty was born in Lincoln County, Idaho, on August 5, 1937, to Frank and Louisa (Harris) Finlayson. On her 18th Birthday she married the love of her life, Ray Clayton. Together they shared 49 wonderful years before his passing.

They enjoyed being outdoors, and spent time camping, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and attending children and grandchildren’s events.

Betty was a devoted and beloved mother to her three children: Jodi Clayton, Shoshone, Idaho; Toby (Connie) Clayton, Boise, Idaho; Penny (Rob) Moline, Salt Lake City, Utah. Grandmother to: Caitlin (Mike McQuilkin) of Portland, Oregon; Jordan Moline, Seattle, Washington; Ty Clayton, Boise; Zach Clayton (Alana) Boise; and Great grandmother to Collins Clayton.

Betty was a talented cosmetologist, and the proud owner of her own salon, where she styled hair and built lasting friendships. In her earlier years, she taught dance and had many former students from across Magic Valley fondly remember her as “Miss Betty”.

A true model of independence with resilience, Betty lived on 5 acres of land east of Shoshone and continued to care for her property the past 22 years since her husband’s death.

A private family service will be held at the Shoshone Cemetery in Shoshone. Please join us for a celebration of Betty’s life on May 9, 2026, with the time to be announced, at her residence east of Shoshone.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Parlor of Garden City.
