Our beloved mother, aunt, sister and friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 27, 2023, as her oldest daughter Emily held her hand. Angel was born to Minerva (Min) Lara and Ivan Varwig on September 23, 1971, in Emmet, ID.
Angel was raised on the outskirts of Star, ID in a beautiful home that belonged to her mother, where she would later take home her first baby in 2004. Angel worked in many different positions throughout her life, but the most honorable one is her motherhood. She loved her babies, Emily Maree and Summer Lilly, more than anything else in this world. She would do anything for them no matter what life had to throw at her. She even documented each time they had a tooth pop in and each time they visited the doctor in their baby books.
Not only did Angel love her children, but she protected them as well. She would go to the ends of the earth to protect her kids. One summer, she had gone camping with her daughter, Summer, and noticed that she fell ill. She took her to the McCall hospital, and they advised transport to Boise, but they had no available units. Angel took matters into her own hands and got Summer to the Boise hospital in less than an hour, narrowly saving her daughter’s life.
Not only did she show immense care for her children and family, but to those who were lucky enough to call her a friend. Her friends often mentioned her willingness to support them in their times of need, despite what she was going through herself. Angel was a lover, and all who knew her were lucky to have her.
Not only was Angel a lover, but she was a spitfire who could turn any situation into a laughing matter, with one of the most beautiful and contagious smiles there was, and one that is missed immensely.
Angel was known as a hard worker to all those who surrounded her. She worked at UPS and owned her own painting company so she could provide Summer the best life possible. Angel worked days painting houses, and when she was done, she would go to UPS and begin her nightly duties.
If there was one thing in this world that Angel loved as much as her babies, it was fishing. At any free moment she had, she could be found catching fish at her favorite lake with her daughter Summer and her mom. Angel loved anything to do with water, really. In the summer months she would often be found on the lake on her paddle board with her two dogs and her daughter.
Angel will truly be missed by her daughters Emily and Summer; Her loving siblings Shirley Engelhardt, Jewel (Bruce) Hunt, Lisa (Tracy) Allred, Michael (Jaymi) Hermes, Jim (Deeann) Varwig, and Kristopher (Kana) Baker; many nieces and nephews; her faithful dogs, Sunny and Joey, and her loving cat Cinna.
Angel is preceded in death by her loving parents; a beautiful baby boy that she never got to meet here on earth, and her beloved cat, Serendipity (Serin), who was faithfully by her side for 21 years.
We love you, momma. Watch out for us and make sure to keep sending us those pretty sunsets.
Angel’s family would like to thank St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center for the kindness and hospitality that was shown to her, even after death. And a very special thank you to one of her nurses, Bridget.
The family will provide information on a celebration of life at a later date.
