Ami Porter Butterfield McKay completed her earthly mission at 47 years old on November 30, 2022. She died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones in Nampa, Idaho.

Ami was born in Houston, TX on February 12, 1975, to David and Sherri Porter. She grew up in Boise, Idaho, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Ami had talent and interest in gymnastics and music. She played the flute and piccolo in the marching band. Ami loved going to the family cabin and riding four wheelers and snowmobiles. She loved cozying up with her favorite novels and reading often. She enjoyed writing. She wrote a short story about a girl named Elizabeth with hopes to be published one day.  She loved parties and being around everyone.  Ami received her paralegal degree from ITT Tech and had various jobs throughout her life.

She had two children, her greatest joy in life. Alan Butterfield and Elizabeth Butterfield Umphenour. She cared very much for them and was a full time mom. She took them on trips, often to the cabin, to the pool, read to them, played games and was very involved.

In her late 20’s she developed a neurological degenerative disease which led to many physical hardships for her. She was still a light to many and never complained even when confined to a wheelchair for many years. She always had a happy, sweet smile on her face and a funny joke to tell. Her example taught her family and friends how to persevere and endure through trials, even when times were so hard.

Ami is survived by her loving parents David and Sherri Porter, her son Alan Butterfield, her daughter Elizabeth Butterfield Umphenour (Mike), and her grandson Zike. Also, her siblings Chad Porter (Andee), Mike Porter (Amber), Heather Pruett (Vaughn), Kim Allen (Todd), along with nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to thank the loving staff who helped care for her from Ambitions of Idaho.
