Alice Annette Dean Finch
1933-2024
Alice Annette Finch died at home on April 10, 2024 at the age of 90. She was born May 16, 1933, in Pocatello, Idaho to Melvin Dean and Lucille Kinnersley Dean. Annette attended school in Pocatello, and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1951. She attended Dennison University, in Granville, Ohio. When her parents moved from Pocatello to San Francisco, Annette also moved to San Francisco. She then attended the College of Pacific in Stockton, California. Annette moved back to Pocatello, and married Wayne Finch of Pocatello in 1956. They had two sons, Douglas and Gregory. They were divorced in 1993.
The family lived in California from 1957 until 1970. Annette continued her education at Fresno State College, where she graduated with a degree in Education and credential in Special Education. The family moved to Boise, Idaho in 1970. Annette taught at Lincoln School, and then moved to Roosevelt Elementary, where she taught 5
th
grade for 2 years. She then taught 1
st
grade for the remainder of her career. Annette loved teaching 1
st
Grade, with a new batch of children every fall, so excited to learn to read. Annette was especially proud of her 29 years teaching in the Boise School District.
Annette volunteered with the St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary for many years. She was an accomplished knitter, making beautiful afghans for her family and friends. She enjoyed playing bridge, attending the shows at the Morrison Center, and travelling with family and friends. She travelled to Europe, and cruised Alaska and the Panama Canal.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving Annette are her sons, Douglas (Robin) Finch, and Gregory Finch, all of Boise; her sister, Margie Bogert, of Boise, and numerous nieces and nephews. Annette’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at St. Luke’s Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, April 27, at All Saints Episcopal Church, Boise, the Rev. Joseph Farnes officiating. Annette will be laid to rest at a later date, in the Pocatello Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, Boise.
