Vivian Shirley Brault, M.A. was born to Joseph and Dorothy Garcia in Silverton, CO on Feb. 27, 1933 and passed away peacefully and painlessly on May 7, 2018 in Boise, Idaho. After growing up in Colorado, Vivian settled in the Treasure Valley where she obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology from CofI in 1955. In 1954 she married Bernard J. Brault from Wisconsin and had two children, Suzanne and Bradley Brault. She was widowed in 1971, and obtained her graduate degree in Counseling from CofI in 1973.
Vivian spent her entire professional career dedicated to the betterment of children and youth as an educator, coach and counselor. After a career in the Boise Public Schools, then Director of the Parent Education Center at BSU, she founded “Directions” in 1987 as an educational resource for parents, day care providers and teachers. Her credentials and accomplishments in her professional field are numerous, and her body of work has been widely published.
She will be remembered most for her love of family, travel, flowers, birds and her beloved small dogs. She leaves behind her daughter Suzanne Webster (Thad) of Boise, her son Bradley Brault (Tracy) of Boise, her grandchildren Katherine McClean (Jacob) of Boise, Johnathan Webster of Boise, Benjamin and Andrew Brault of McCall and cousin Phil Harris (Francine and children) of Missoula, MT. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Garcia, her mother Dorothy Smock, her brothers Vernon and Leon Garcia, her husband Bernard Brault, and her uncle Gail Harris.

In lieu of flowers, Vivian asks that donations be made to the St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital or Idaho Humane Society.
A graveside service will be held at 11am Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Dry Creek Cemetery. Celebration of Life immediately follows @ Eagle Hills Golf Course.
