September 24, 1940 ~ August 12, 2019 (age 78)

Sandra Kay Bodensteiner

Sandra Kay (Sandie) Bodensteiner, 78, of Boise passed away Monday, August 12, 2019. Born September 24, 1940 in Minidoka County Idaho to Ira and Evelyn Hoffman. Sandie and her sister, Deanna were both raised in the Rupert area. After High School, Sandie married George Bodensteiner. They went on to raise their three daughters DaNett, Lorrie, and Teri in the Rupert area.

Sandie was a hard worker, something she passed on to her girls. She always balanced out work and being a morn. She was a professional bartender for 17 years and every fall would take time off to drive spud trucks (something she truly enjoyed). In 1980 they moved to Blaine County where Sandie went back to school and earned her Real Estate license. She worked hard and was instrumental in helping many young families buy their first homes. Many of those families became lifelong friends.  Sandie quickly earned her Broker’s license and purchased Leadville Realty in Hailey, Idaho.  Sandie was a mentor to many in the Real Estate Industry.

In 1996 it was time for retirement, or so we thought, and that was when they moved to Boise. Sandie's passion was staying home and working in her yards, especially her flower gardens, always with her Yorkies by her side. Sandie had one more interest in writing her final career chapter. In 1998 Sandie came out of retirement to fulfill her lifelong dream of owning a flower and -gift shop. She purchased Balloon Boutique in Nampa, Idaho. This was an exciting time for her because she often had her family by her side doing deliveries, making flower arrangements, and helping her run the store.

Sandie is survived by her daughters DaNett (Curtis) Peckham of Pocatello, Idaho; Lorrie Buchanan of Boise, Idaho; and Teri (Jill) Aitchison of Boise, Idaho. Granddaughters Kandace Teresa Blackburn of Hailey, Idaho; Jessica Kay Buchanan of Boise, Idaho; Ashley Lyndell Aitchison and Bailey Rebecca Aitchison of Boise, Idaho. Great Grandchildren Mykelti Jaden Blackburn and Kaden Tyler Blackburn of Hailey, Idaho. Sandie is also survived by George Bodensteiner and numerous nieces and nephews and loving, caring friends.

Sandie was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Hoffman, Evelyn Standley, and stepmother Frieda Hoffman, infant daughter Teresa Bodensteiner, sister Deanna Bond, and Granddaughter, Tabatha Lyndell Clark.

The family has asked in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sandie Bodensteiner's name to Copper Springs Senior Living or Keystone Hospice.
