Ralph Stanley Miller
Ralph Stanley Miller, 89, of Meridian, Idaho, peacefully left this Earth and entered the presence of Jesus Christ on March 11, 2019. Born in Van Nuys, California, on April 27, 1929, to Ralph and Georgia Miller, Stan was a loving and giving person who possessed strong inner fortitude and devotion to his family. As a young man he completed high school at the Pasadena Academy. It was there that he met the love of his life, Dorothy Jean Bufkin, whom he married at Rees Memorial Church in Pasadena in 1948. Stan provided for Dorothy and their four children as a carpenter and later as a pastor with the Church of the Nazarene.
Dad’s lasting legacy is his love for Jesus and leadership of his children in all phases of life. He was a master craftsman who could build or fix almost anything. He worked as a journeyman carpenter for over 15 years. While doing that and supporting the family, he went to college and became an ordained pastor. Stan taught his family how to work and the value of a job well done. He was extremely loyal to friends and would do anything for them. Most of all, Dad loved Jesus. He became a Christian at a young age and lived for Christ his whole life.
As a pastor, Dad poured into the lives of others and built them up in their faith with the goal of spiritual maturity. He pastored numerous churches and faithfully taught Christ to everyone he came in contact with. Some of his churches were small, but that did not matter to him. Dad joyfully took on additional jobs to support his family. Perseverance and faithfulness were his watchwords.
Dad loved boats and early on managed to get a small aluminum boat with a 30-hp Mercury engine that he maintained for years. He taught all his children to ski behind that boat. He loved to take vacations to lakes where the family could ski all day long. Later, he had a larger boat that he got for a song and enjoyed fishing from it. He was sad the day that he had to give up his boating.
Stan is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, his parents, Ralph and Georgia, and his brothers Dicky Miller and Jack Miller and his sister Doris Williams. He is survived by his sisters, Leola Street of Meridian, Idaho, and Dot Miller of Meridian, Idaho; his children, Rick (and wife Paula) Miller of Nashville, Tennessee, Karen Miller of Meridian, Idaho, Robert (and wife LeAnne) Miller of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Rebecca Cushman of El Dorado, California. At his passing, Stan had six grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.
