Oscar Perecz

August 28, 1916    January 8, 2018

Oscar Perecz peacefully joined our Father in Heaven on January 8th surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Oscar was born August 28th, 1916 to Joseph and Rosa Mezes Perecz in Black Diamond, King County Washington.  Oscar was the youngest of 4 children.

At a young age his family moved to homestead in Malheur City, Oregon.  After several years of homesteading, the Perecz family moved to Arena Valley near Parma, Idaho.  Oscar was raised with a strong work ethic and even though he only had an 8th grade education he valued the importance of school and never stopped wanting to learn. Oscar helped run the family farm until the age of 34, when he married the love of his life, who was the neighboring farmer’s daughter, Wilma Packwood. They married on December 18th, 1951 in Roswell, ID. They bought and farmed 80 acres in Ten Davis, where they happily resided for many years. In 1953 Billy Wayne was brought into the world and in 1954 their beautiful daughter Donna Marie came along.

Fortunate enough to have an early retirement, Oscar never missed an opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren. This often included being on the farm, at a school activity, ball games, camping and of course introducing them the second love of his life, fishing.

Oscar also loved to spend time with his wife. Together they enjoyed traveling, wintering in Arizona, playing horseshoes, pinochle and spending their summers in Cascade. They were active members of the Roswell Presbyterian Church and enjoyed participating in the senior centers throughout the Treasure Valley.

Oscar’s love of God was evident by the way he lived his life and how he treated others.  As the Patriarch of his family, he taught by example. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him, could attest to his love and compassion.

Living a very healthy and active life, until the wonderful age of 101 Oscar is survived by his wife Wilma, children Bill and Donna, grandchildren Richard, Ryan, Rachel, Jacob and Jerod. 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday at 4pm on January 13th, 2018 at the Covenant Presbyterian Church 4848 N Five Mile Rd, Boise, ID. In Lieu of flowers the family has requested that you donate to your favorite charity or to the Covenant Presbyterian church.
