Mike Records

December 6, 1949 ~ December 15, 2018 (age 69)

Mike Records, 69, of Boise, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018.  Born December 6, 1949 in Boise, Idaho to Bob and Nancy Records, Mike was the second of their nine children.  The Records’ family was somewhat infamous growing up in the North End neighborhood of Boise, where the colorful stories of their childhood are plentiful and the amount of raucous caused was endless. Mike attended Saint Mary’s School and graduated from Bishop Kelly High School in 1968.  During his high school years, he apprenticed with Van de Carr Glass as a glazier and upon graduation, he started working in construction. Mike married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lynn Wassler, in February of 1969 and together they had two daughters, Angie and Nettie.

Mike owned and operated a successful glass repair business, Quality Glass, until his retirement due to health. He was an amateur photographer and loved to spend time outdoors taking pictures. One of Mike’s favorite places was the Boise Foothills and much of his time was spent exploring them with camera in hand and dog trotting alongside.  He had a great love for animals and when visiting Mike, undoubtedly a few would cross your path as they roamed his yard, turkey, chickens, ducks and of course, his beloved dogs, Kate and Rose. He also enjoyed gardening, spending time on the Boise River and listening to nature. Later in life, Mike struggled with health issues but never lost his sense of humor.

Mike is survived by daughters Angie Olson and Annette Records; grandson, Cody Olson; brothers and sisters, Jim (Jessica), Cay Nielsen (Max), Pat (Sandy), Terry, Bob (Diane), Molly Scharig (Terry), Joe (Diane), and P.J.; Uncle and Aunt, Mick and Darlene Kohout; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and three grandsons, Seth and Ryan Olson, and Casey Records. Mike will be remembered by most as a kind and gentle man.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, at 2:00 at Bowman Funeral Parlor, 10254 W. Carlton Bay, Garden City, 83714.

Remembrance donations can be made in Mike’s name to the Idaho Humane Society at: https://idahohumanesociety.org/donate/donate-now/

The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Boise Fire Department, Ada County Paramedics, the staff at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center for their service and dedication, and to Dr. Stacia Munn for her care and compassion.
