Michael G. Irvan, of Boise, Idaho, surrounded by family, went to be with his Lord, on January 28, 2018. He died peacefully in the arms of his loving wife, Yvonne. He was 64.
Husband. Father. Grandfather. Son. Brother. Friend. Pastor. Michael embodied the meaning of servanthood. He gave of himself in service to his community for nearly four decades as an Ada County Sheriff Deputy Reserve, Ada County Paramedic and Director, and North Ada County Firefighter, Fire Chief, and Commissioner. He served faithfully with his church, The Garden, as Pastor, counselor, friend, and confidant. He watched over, provided, and loved his wife, daughters, and grandchildren with great care.
Michael was born on July 26, 1953 in Boise, Idaho to Gerald and Marilyn Irvan, along with his older sister, Donna Revels. His childhood and young formative years were filled with love and joy and he soon found a passion in serving others. He dreamed of being a police officer and soon had the opportunity to be a firefighter, and then a sheriff deputy reserve, which he loved greatly, a paramedic, and eventually the Director of Ada County EMS. He fell madly in love with and married Yvonne Todd in 1980, and accepted her daughter, Mindy Palmer as his very own. Later, Michael would legally adopt Mindy Palmer, proving his love for her all the more. In 1987, Michael and Yvonne adopted a beautiful baby girl, Sarah, making their tiny family complete. Michael and Yvonne were set to celebrate their 38th anniversary this coming April.
Michael is survived by his wife, Yvonne Irvan, daughters, Mindy Peper and Sarah Irvan, son-in-law, Jacob Peper, grandchildren, Rachael Peper and Jordan Peper, mother, Marilyn Irvan, and sister, Donna Revels. He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Irvan.
Michael will always be remembered for his compassionate heart, willingness to help others, and witty sense of humor. He will forever be in our hearts.
