Marie M. Overgard Waters Crandall 1929 - 2018
Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister passed away October 6, 2018 at home at the age of 89 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Marie was born in Barber, Idaho to Myrtle and Elias Overgard. The family later moved to Boise where she attended Boise schools graduating from Boise High School in 1947. While her father and two brothers were serving our country during WW II she worked as a welder at Gate City Steele and was a tremendous help to her mother caring for her two younger brothers.
In 1948 she married Wayne Waters with whom she had 4 children. After Wayne and Marie divorced she worked for Ore Ida Foods and with the Boise Police Dept. at airport security. She also was a volunteer at the Idaho Military History Museum.
She married John Crandall and upon his retirement from the military they traveled often to Arizona. She served as an officer at the Boise Eagles Lodge where she enjoyed and has continued to enjoy dining, dancing and visiting with the many friends she has made there.
Eleven years ago she met an old classmate, Byron Ryals, and although they never married they loved each other dearly and shared a very special bond. They loved walking in the park and Byron kept her active by dancing at the lodge and several senior centers.
Marie possessed a loving, witty and fun personality all her life. She was very talented at reciting limericks and poems and always had a joke to share. She loved her family and always enjoyed getting together with everyone. She was warm and friendly and enjoyed meeting new people. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter (Heidi Waters); husbands (Wayne Waters) and (John Crandall); brothers (Willford (Will) Overgaard); and (Richard (Brig) Overgaard).
She is survived by her son Steven Waters, Meridian, Id.; daughters Cindy Woody (Alan), Eagle, Idaho, and Christy Walker, Astoria, Oregon; Her very special friend Byron Ryals, Boise, Id.; Brothers Dr. Willard Overgaard, Boise, Id and Jess Overgard, Boise, Id.; Numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
