JOHN LOGAN BALDERSONFebruary 3, 1944 ~ October 13, 2017 (age 73)
John Logan Balderston was born in Boise Idaho on February 3rd, 1944. He lived here for 12 years and then moved through Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, and Nebraska. He joined the U.S. Army in 1964 and was in Europe for the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Berlin Wall, and President Kennedy’s assassination. John graduated college from Boise State with a BS and AS in Electronics and minors in English, Literature, and Education. He enjoyed working as the Store Manager for the Boise Shakey’s Pizza and the Commissary Manager for Domino’s Pizza. He also enjoyed working as a Contract Manager and Program Analyst for Hughes Satellite Systems.
In his spare time John would read books, cook, and ride his motorcycle. He was particularly fond of art and music and he designed his own house to reflect this. John was very intelligent, but also very reserved -- choosing to share his personality with only a few close friends and his family. While John was a very private person, this did not diminish his fierce love for his family. He could always be counted on for support and to deliver dry, sardonic humor in any situation.
John is missed by many people including his four children: Kira Balderston, Joseph Balderston, Robert Balderston and Kristina Hollomon, and twelve grandchildren. He was also very close to his brother and sister-in-law Bruce and Joyce Balderston and their kids: Kati, Karen, James and Will, as well as his best friend Bob Bates. John passed away in his home at the age of 73, surrounded by family and friends. In a classic-John move, his passing took place the morning of Friday the 13th, 2017.
There will be a service to remember John Balderston at 11 am on November 4th at Bowmans Funeral Parlor. Everyone is welcome to attend. We also request that you take a moment to write down a memory you might have of John as we will share them at the service.
